DashBuddy: A call to the Tumblr team →
This is an open comment to Tumblr dev/community staff - and I’m posting this on my Tumblr blog too.
I understand that you guys are hugely busy, and that in the grand scheme of things API support for community programmers is hardly a priority. We’re all devs here, I don’t think anyone expects constant interaction.
You’re absolutely right — we’ve been letting down our developer community. This is an extremely high-priority for Derek and me, and something that our Engineering team (especially JB) has been pulling extra hours to help with.
We don’t, today, have engineers dedicated to supporting our developer community — something we’re working to change as quickly as possible. You guys have been doing unbelievable work for Tumblr users, and we want to do everything possible to support your efforts.
Thank you so much for the thoughtful note. I’m sorry to let you down.
P.S. If empowering incredible developers is your kind of thing, we’d love to chat.

The Alameda-Weehawken Burrito Tunnel →
Though airmail took a few hours longer, shipping was cheaper and packages traveling through the tunnel often were singed due to the proximity to Earth’s hot magma. Tunnel operations ceased in 1936.
The unique path of the tunnel, while damaging mail in the 30’s, was ideally suited to keeping the burrito hot during its 1 hour journey across America. Shipping nearly 2000 burritos per hour to New Jersey has almost been too much of a success for the small taqueria’s in the Mission District.

“omg david karp has such a hot voice ;~;”—
For the first time ever, I return a phone call. Just enter your number for a call from Tumblr and fight to protect the internet from censorship.

I am Neil deGrasse Tyson — Ask Me Anything →
If you could impress one thing on young people today, what would it be?
That adults are not all they’re cracked up to be. And most of them are wrong most of the time. This can be quite revelatory for a kid - often launching them on a personal quest of exploration, rather than of Q&A sessions with their parents.
If you could change one thing about how the sciences are taught to American children, what would it be?
Create a goal state for educational pipeline to see in broad daylight - some ambitious mission - like a voyage to mars - that is so compelling that the quality of your science teacher is irrelevant. Your consequent ambitions trump all other forces.
